Tixel

The ultimate skin rejuvenation solution with no needles and as powerful as a laser - with minimal downtime. Dr. Andrea Cosmetic MD is one of the first clinics in Toronto to offer this incredible technology.

What is Tixel?

What can I expect during my treatment?

To ensure your comfort, a topical anaesthetic cream is applied at the start of your appointment. Your skin is then cleansed to prepare for the Tixel treatment. Your treatment will take approximately 30 minutes, whereby a grid like pattern is created with tiny micro-channels. Your skin will look red and feel warm like you have a slight sunburn. A soothing hyaluronic acid mask is applied to your skin to penetrate through the tiny micro-channels, and it is ideal to continue to apply hydrating serums for the next week.

What should I do after my Tixel treatment?

  • Redness and heat sensation that feels like a mild sunburn generally subsides within the next 4-6 hours. Redness will improve within the next 24-48 hours

  • Mild swelling, especially around the eyes, is expected and can last for 24-72 hours. You may want to sleep propped up for 1-2 days if the eyes have been especially targeted.

  • It is normal to see tiny dot patterns on the skin and notice little scabs that remain for a few days up to a week during the healing process. Do not pick at these as they will fall off on their own.

  • You may notice a sensation of dryness and tightness, as well as “sandpaper” feel to the skin as it restores itself. Applying hydrating serums and drinking lots of water for the next week is recommended.

  • Avoid washing the treated areas until the following day, and avoid hot showers and baths for 24 hours.

  • You may apply makeup and sunscreen 24 hours after your treatment

  • Avoid strenuous exercise for 24-48 hours after your treatment.

  • Avoid direct sun exposure for 2-3 weeks after your treatment.

  • Avoid the use of exfoliants or any abrasive substances (ie. retinol, glycolic acid) for 3 weeks post treatment.

How many sessions are required and how often?

For optimal results from your Tixel treatments, 3-6 sessions separated by 4-6 weeks is recommended. Maintenance sessions every 6-12 months is suggested for optimal collagen stimulation.

How do I prepare for my Tixel treatment?

  • Avoid sun exposure and a fresh tan for 1-2 weeks prior

  • Avoid using Retinol and other exfoliants for 3-5 days prior

  • If you have a history of cold sores, an anti-viral medication is recommended to be taken prior to your appointment, as this treatment can trigger a flare. Please contact the office to inquire.

  • Please come with no makeup on your skin for your appointment.
